What you'll need
- A host or support congregation near you — search "Family Promise" plus your city
- A signup grid for dinners, overnights, and the morning shift
- Background checks, done weeks ahead
Pitfalls
- Overnight hosts are the hardest slot to fill and the whole thing folds without them.
- Eat dinner with the families. Serving them and leaving misses the point.
- Same week every year beats a bigger week you only do once.
