Most of these kids have never had a birthday party thrown for them. Camp throws one for everybody, on the same day, and it’s not a small thing.

The ask is real: a week off work, no phone, and one kid who needs you awake at 2am. Almost everyone who does it once does it again.

What you'll need

Five vacation days, booked in the spring for a summer week
Training and a background check through the camp
One camper, all week. That's the whole assignment.

Pitfalls

Don't promise to write, visit, or stay in touch unless the agency says you can and you know you will.
Never ask about their case. If they tell you, listen and don't dig.
Go back the next year. Kids come back, and they look for you.
